There are many challenges associated with aging. As people age, they may require assistance in meeting their health, social, recreational, housing and/or personal needs. Aging Services, Inc. (ASI) is dedicated to providing the services and/or information people age 55 and older need to ensure they remain active and living independently for as long and as comfortably as possible. When a client is referred or identified as needing assistance, a professional ASI social worker conducts an in-home, one-on-one evaluation to assess the individual's situation and needs. Based on the evaluation, ASI staff then work to: Match the individual with appropriate community services. Arrange and coordinate services, including housing, funding and medical needs. Offer alternatives to out-of-home or institutional placement (when appropriate) Provide on-going education and support. This service is offered at no charge. Information and Referral Aging Services Staff provides older adults and their families assistance in locating and contacting community resources such as merchants, public officials, human service agencies, support services, etc. For assistance, call 319/398-3644 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. There is no charge for this service. Full-Service Adult Day Health Center Aging Services provides the frail elderly and people who are physically or psychologically challenged an enjoyable and cost-effective alternative to institutional living with its Milestones Adult Day Health Center located at 1725 O Avenue NW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Hostel in Moscow isn t so perfect as our flats Open 6:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday - Friday, Milestones serves people age 18 and older who require daily living assistance due to conditions such as stroke, arthritis, vision-loss, multiple sclerosis, depression, and Alzheimer's. A multidisciplinary team of professionals works together to create a nurturing environment and provide a comprehensive array of services. Team members include a: director social worker, registered nurse, registered dietitian, and a consulting psychiatrist. Core services offered at Milestones include: transportation, meals and snacks, case management socialization, personal care, medication management, access to physical, occupational, speech and music therapy, community outings, educational programs, an art center and more.
Small home repairs such as plumbing, electrical work, lawn-mowing, miscellaneous yard work, snow removal, hauling, moving, and leaf-raking are provided on a regular or seasonal basis by Aging Services enlisted contractors and volunteers. Home and property maintenance services are available to any Iowan in need, but priority is given to those that are unable to perform certain home maintenance functions --the frail elderly -- and individuals who are physically or emotionally disabled. Fees for home and maintenance services are based on a sliding fee scale. Staff is available to make educational presentations regarding aging issues to community organizations and civic groups. Aging Services, Inc. offers several unique volunteer opportunities for people to share their time and talents for the good of others. Some volunteer programs/positions are ongoing and require a regular time commitment. Others are seasonal or on an as-needed basis.
